Endre Volden new Managing Director at Moldejazz
It is with great pleasure that Molde International Jazz Festival announces that we have hired Endre Volden as the new general manager of Moldejazz
"The entire board has allowed themselves to be excited by the candidate, who is both well-orientated, collaborative, ambitious, innovative and has solid leadership skills," says chairman Stein Berg Oshaug.
Endre Volden comes from the position of head of department at Ålesund upper secondary school, where he is currently responsible for the artistic study areas art, design, architecture and dance, drama and music. In addition, Volden works with directing and course activities in communication, dramaturgy and improvisation.
Moldejazz is the world's oldest jazz festival in continuous operation, and has a proud history as a leading jazz festival dating back to 1961. The appointment marks the entrance to a new era for the festival. Volden takes up the position of general manager and, together with the board, will employ an artistic director. The rule so far has been that the general manager of the festival has also been the artistic director.
"With this, we want to strengthen the administration and set up the festival for the future. We are convinced that Endre Volden's combination of management experience and work with various genres within the art field will be able to strengthen the festival's position, and that his experience with development work will be able to drive the festival forward," says Oshaug.
"Molde International Jazz Festival is one of the world's most important jazz festivals today. I am very much looking forward to helping to develop it further - together with a skilled staff, all the wonderful volunteers and everyone else in the city and region who are passionate about this unique festival", says Endre Volden.
When Endre Volden takes up the position of general manager, he replaces Cecilie Nogva, who has been acting festival manager for well over a year.
